Consistently working together

Our goal over the next few years is to collaboratively develop 3 to 5 preliminary standards of practice that can be easily understood and quickly adopted in a serious animal disease emergency.

Experience has taught us that there are a number of areas that may benefit from improved communication and a clear, step-by-step approach. Ultimately, our vision is a suite of national protocols that will support and guide all sectors and commodity groups across Canada.

In the early needs assessment phase of this activity, we will examine the learnings from the initial AHEM project as well as other concurrent initiatives that are exploring existing gaps in the animal health policy landscape. We will then shortlist a handful of priority areas for further discussion, development and review by industry and government working groups.

By project end, we will have a handful of collaboratively developed, refined and endorsed protocols that will create a strong policy foundation on which we can collectively build.
