Consistently Working Together

Recognizing the importance of clear communication and guidance, we are collaboratively developing protocols to support industry. These practical guidelines outline specific conditions for action along with recommended steps to take during an emergency.

At present, AHEM is focused on specific guidance related to animals in transit and cease movement situations. These draft protocols are being refined with working groups and will be further tested through application at a national multi-commodity disease outbreak simulation exercise.

The development of protocols for both vaccination and depopulation have also been identified for future work. Once finalized, these protocols will be incorporated into the AHEM national association frameworks, provincial association plans and producer handbooks.

Protocols are integral because they help ensure consistency in our collective approach. By highlighting critical tasks and distinct responsibilities, we will be better able to navigate the unexpected.
